Ontario Workforce Priority stream
Ontario’s employer-driven pathway for job offer candidates.
- Ontario job offer
- Any TEER, 0 to 5
- Base or Express Entry nomination
About
You need a permanent, full-time job offer (1,560 hours a year, 30 hours a week or more) that meets Ontario’s regional wage level, from an employer that has registered the position with the OINP. TEER 0 to 3 candidates need 6 months in the job in the last 12 months (3 for recent Ontario graduates) or 2 years in the same occupation in the last 5 years, CLB 6 (CLB 5 for trades) and a post-secondary credential for non-trades jobs. TEER 4 and 5 candidates need 9 months in the job in the last 2 years, CLB 4 and high school.
How I help
- Whether you and your employer meet the stream’s rules
- Employer registration and your expression of interest
- Nomination application, then your PR application
- Workers with a permanent, full-time job offer from an eligible Ontario employer
- TEER 0 to 3 workers who want an Express Entry nomination (+600 CRS)
- TEER 4 and 5 workers with 9 months in the job
- Job Offer ID and the job offer from the registered Ontario employer
- Language test results (CLB 4 to 6, depending on the job)
- Education: a post-secondary credential or ECA for most TEER 0 to 3 jobs, high school for trades and TEER 4 and 5
- Employment records and pay stubs
What your employer must meet
- In active business for at least 3 years, with business premises in Ontario where you’ll work
- In the GTA: at least $1 million in revenue and 5 full-time employees who are citizens or PRs
- In Ottawa, Waterloo, Hamilton and other listed areas: $500,000 and 3 such employees. Elsewhere: $250,000 in each of the last 2 years and 3 employees.
- A permanent, full-time job at or above the regional wage level
- No outstanding orders under Ontario’s employment standards or workplace health and safety laws
What your employer does
- Registers in the OINP Employer Portal and creates the job offer, which gives you a Job Offer ID
- Recruits in Canada first (2 methods, posted for 4+ weeks), unless you’re already authorized to work in Ontario or it has a positive LMIA for the job
- Completes its part of the application within the OINP’s deadline after you’re invited
- Provides the business, financial and staffing documents on the OINP employer checklist
